Introduction

Everything you need to truly understand Bonlife

Welcome to Bonlife. This document exists so that anyone - a new team member, an agency partner, a chatbot, or an AI assistant - can read it top to bottom and walk away understanding what Bonlife is, what it does, who it serves, and how to talk about it. Read it like an onboarding conversation, not a policy manual.

Section 2

1. Who and what Bonlife is

The short version

Bonlife Assurance Namibia is a Namibian insurance company that provides affordable, accessible financial protection to ordinary Namibians and their families. We are headquartered at 73 John Meinert Street in Windhoek, and we operate 20 branches across the country - from Lüderitz in the south to Eenhana in the north.

We insure real life: the funeral that arrives without warning, the breadwinner a family cannot afford to lose, the accident that stops an income, the education a child deserves, the savings a household never quite manages to build alone. Our job is to make sure that when life happens, money is not the thing that breaks a family.

Mission, vision, and core purpose

Our purpose: To make financial protection accessible to every Namibian family, not just the wealthy or the well-connected.

What that means in practice:

  • No medical tests on any plan. A questionnaire at most.
  • Premiums that start from as little as N$48 per month.
  • Plans for every stage of life, from a newborn's education fund to funeral cover at age 84.
  • Claims paid within 48 hours of verified documents - because a grieving family cannot wait weeks.
  • Branches in the towns where our customers actually live, and a WhatsApp line for everyone else.

The bigger ambition: Bonlife has historically been known as a funeral cover company. That reputation was earned honestly - funeral cover is where we started serving families. But Bonlife today is a full financial protection company across four categories: Funeral Cover, Life Insurance, Accident & Disability Cover, and Saving & Education Plans. Our current brand mission is to make Namibia see the whole picture.

Brand personality, voice, and values

If Bonlife were a person, it would be the trusted family friend who explains money matters at the kitchen table - warm, straight-talking, and never condescending.

Our voice is:

  • Short and punchy. We front-load the point. No burying the benefit in paragraph three.
  • Benefit-led. We talk about what the customer gets, not what the product technically does.
  • Warm. We are dealing with death, disability, and family security. Coldness has no place here.
  • Jargon-free. If a smart 15-year-old would not understand it, we rewrite it.

Our values in action:

  • Accessibility. Cash accepted at NamPost, MobiPay, PayToday, USave, Checkers, Shoprite, Model, Airtime City and Woermann & Brock, plus card payments on Bonlife 90. You do not need a bank account relationship with us to be protected.
  • Speed. 48-hour claim payouts. N$1,000 Instant Cash paid the same day a funeral claim is approved.
  • Honesty. Waiting periods, exclusions, and lapse rules are explained plainly, upfront.
  • Loyalty rewarded. The Kampala Loyalty Programme gives back to customers who stay - every Bonlife policyholder is automatically enrolled, at no extra cost.

How Bonlife sees its customers

Our customer is the everyday Namibian household. The nurse in Oshakati. The mineworker in Tsumeb. The pensioner in Rehoboth. The young parent in Katutura thinking about their child's university fees. They work hard, they carry family responsibilities that often extend beyond the nuclear household, and they deserve financial products built for their reality - not scaled-down versions of products built for someone else.

That is why the Family Plan covers up to 14 people on one policy, including extended family up to age 75. In Namibia, family is bigger than a household, and our products reflect that.

Section 3

2. What Bonlife does

The problems we solve

  1. A death in the family creates an immediate financial crisis. Funerals in Namibia are significant, dignified, community events - and expensive ones. Our funeral plans make sure the money is there, fast.
  2. Losing a breadwinner destroys a family's future, not just its present. The One Life Plan pays a lump sum of up to N$1,000,000 so a family can carry on. The Cash Plan pays monthly support for six months so a family can rebuild steadily.
  3. Accidents stop incomes. The LifeGuard Plan protects against accidental death, permanent disablement, and lost income.
  4. Saving alone is hard. The Savings Plan and Study Plan turn small monthly amounts into real capital - for emergencies, for goals, and for a child's education.

Where Bonlife fits in the market

Bonlife operates in Namibia's long-term insurance market, competing in the mass-market and funeral assurance segment. Our positioning is built on three pillars:

  1. Physical accessibility - a genuine nationwide branch network, not just a Windhoek head office.
  2. Product accessibility - no medicals, low entry premiums, cash payment options.
  3. Digital accessibility - a WhatsApp chatbot, online applications for every plan, and Bonlife 90 (insure.bonlifenam.com), where anyone can get a real quote in under 90 seconds through Bonnie, our AI assistant.

What makes Bonlife different

  • 48-hour claims. Verified claims are paid within two days. This is our single most powerful proof point.
  • N$1,000 Instant Cash. Included in the Family, Prime, Senior, and Legacy Plans, paid the same day a claim is approved via eWallet or EFT. When a family is planning a funeral, same-day cash matters.
  • The Kampala Loyalty Programme. Almost no competitor rewards policyholder loyalty with monthly lucky draws, airtime, claim value increases, and maternity premium holidays - automatically, at no extra cost.
  • Extended family cover. Up to 14 lives on one Family Plan policy, extended members to age 75.
  • Culturally fluent add-ons. Casket, tombstone, grocery, transportation, refreshment, and the Onyama MeatFeast benefit (roughly 70kg of A-Grade beef) - benefits designed around how Namibian funerals actually work.
  • The four-category portfolio. Few competitors in this segment offer funeral cover, lump sum life insurance, accident cover, and savings products under one roof.

The customer journey

Discover. Customers meet Bonlife through branches, agents and brokers, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google Search, radio, and word of mouth - which, in the funeral insurance space, is the most powerful channel of all. A claim paid quickly and kindly creates ten new customers.

Explore. They visit bonlifenam.com or the /bonlife-plans/ hub, message the WhatsApp chatbot on +264 81 413 4557, SMS their name to 74448 for a call-back, or walk into a branch.

Buy. Every plan can be applied for online, on paper at a branch, or through an agent. Bonlife 90 (insure.bonlifenam.com) - Bonlife's online quoting and cover app, the first of its kind in Namibia - lets customers get a quote and cover quickly and easily online, end to end. Payment methods: Debit Order, Cash, EFT, and now by card on Bonlife 90 (the One Life Plan is debit order only). Where to pay: NamPost, MobiPay, PayToday, USave, Checkers, Shoprite, Model, Airtime City, and Woermann & Brock.

Experience. Cover starts on the first of the month after the first premium. Every policyholder enters the Kampala programme automatically at month 3. Premiums are due on or before the 1st of each month; a policy lapses after 3 consecutive unpaid premiums but can be reinstated.

Claim. Documents in, verification done, payment within 48 hours - with Instant Cash on the same day for the four funeral plans. This moment is the entire brand promise made real.

Section 4

3. Products and services

Bonlife offers nine plans across four categories. A person may hold one policy per plan type (one Family Plan and one Cash Plan is fine; two Family Plans is not).

One rule that must never be broken in any communication: funeral plans pay a cover benefit. Only the One Life Plan pays a lump sum. Never describe funeral plan payouts as lump sums.

Category 1: Funeral Cover

Family Plan (ages 18-65, from N$48/month) The flagship. One policy covers up to 14 people: main life, spouse, up to 6 children, and extended family members aged 0-75. Includes double cover on accidental death, N$1,000 Instant Cash, an optional Premium Waiver (10% of premium; keeps the family covered for 24 months after the main life passes), and the full menu of add-ons. Who it is for: anyone carrying responsibility for a wider family circle. Standard waiting period 12 months, reducible to 6 with Early Comfort. Website: https://bonlifenam.com/plan/family-plan/

Prime Plan (ages 18-60, from N$122/month) Enhanced funeral cover with the Premium Waiver built in free - if the main life passes away, the family stays covered at no cost for 24 months. Cover options of N$25,000 or N$50,000; spouse covered at N$15,000, children at N$10,000 each. Double payout on accidental death with no waiting period. Who it is for: families who want stronger cover with the safety net included, not sold separately. Website: https://bonlifenam.com/plan/prime-plan/

Senior Plan (ages 65-84, from N$250/month) Individual funeral cover designed for older Namibians, with double cover on accidental death and Instant Cash. Cover from N$5,000 to N$30,000 depending on age bracket. Who it is for: seniors who want their own dignified cover, or adult children arranging cover for a parent. Website: https://bonlifenam.com/plan/senior-plan/

Legacy Plan (ages 65-84, from N$275/month) A bundled plan: cash benefit, casket, tombstone, and (on the N$40,000 option) grocery support, all in one premium. Optional Child Supporter Benefit (3 x N$4,000). Pays 50% in months 7-12 and 100% from month 13. Who it is for: seniors and families who want the whole funeral pre-arranged financially, not just a cash amount. Website: https://bonlifenam.com/plan/legacy-plan/

Category 2: Life Insurance

One Life Plan (employed individuals, ages 18-60, from N$195/month) Bonlife's dedicated lump sum product - the only one. Pays N$250,000 to N$1,000,000 directly to beneficiaries. No medical tests. Includes four free benefits: a N$25,000 funeral benefit, income protection of N$5,000/month for 12 months during temporary disability, a 3-month premium freeze during hardship, and 15% cash back every 5 years with no claims. Accidental death pays the full lump sum immediately with no waiting period. Debit order only. Who it is for: employed breadwinners who want their family's long-term future secured, not just a funeral covered. Website: https://bonlifenam.com/plan/onelife-plan/

Cash Plan (ages 18-60, N$275 or N$425/month) Instead of one payout, the Cash Plan pays monthly cash plus a N$1,000 grocery voucher for 6 consecutive months after a valid claim. Who it is for: families who need structured, steady support to rebuild after a loss - money that arrives like a salary, not a windfall. 9-month waiting period; claims paid within 48 hours. Website: https://bonlifenam.com/plan/cash-plan/

Category 3: Accident & Disability Cover

LifeGuard Plan (ages 18-60; Individual N$175/month, Family N$349/month) Protection against the financial impact of accidents: up to N$100,000 for accidental death or permanent disablement, income protection of N$30,000/month (months 13-24 of a temporary disability), and a N$1,000/day family care hospital benefit. Family option covers spouse (same cover as main life) and up to 6 children (N$10,000 each). 15% No Claim Bonus every 5 years. Shortest waiting period of any Bonlife plan: 1 month. Who it is for: anyone whose income depends on their body - drivers, tradespeople, workers in physical jobs - and their families. Website: https://bonlifenam.com/plan/lifeguard-plan/

Category 4: Saving & Education Plans

Savings Plan (ages 18-65, five tiers from N$110/month) "Two Pockets. One Plan. Total Financial Freedom." Every premium splits into a Long-Term Bucket (invested, targeting 8% growth, locked for the chosen 5, 10, or 15-year term) and a Short-Term Pocket (accessible after 12 months for emergencies). Built-in death and disablement benefits, optional Premium Waiver, voluntary top-ups allowed. Missed payments never cancel the policy. Who it is for: households who want discipline and access at the same time - growth they cannot raid, plus an emergency cushion they can. Website: https://bonlifenam.com/plan/savings-plan/

Study Plan (children aged 0-18, from N$110/month) "Start Early. Study Further. Give Them Every Chance." A parent or guardian saves monthly into the Bank Windhoek Equity Fund (target 8% growth). The policy matures on the child's 21st birthday, with early payout available if the child is accepted into a registered tertiary institution before then. Built-in death and disablement benefits protect the goal; the optional Premium Waiver guarantees the education fund target is still met if the policyholder dies or becomes disabled. Who it is for: every parent who has ever said "I want better for my child" and wants a plan behind the words. Website: https://bonlifenam.com/plan/study-plan/

5. The Kampala Loyalty Programme

At Bonlife, we believe loyalty deserves to be rewarded. Every Bonlife policyholder is automatically enrolled in the Kampala Loyalty Programme, at no extra cost. No sign-ups, no forms, no extra fees - just stay covered, and watch your rewards grow.

The longer you stay with Bonlife, the more you earn. From monthly lucky draw entries to airtime, claim increases, and maternity premium holidays, Kampala is designed to give back to the people who trust us with their families' protection.

How it works

There are three tiers, and your Kampala card tier is based on how long your Bonlife policy has been active. As the months add up, you automatically move to the next tier and unlock bigger benefits - no action needed from the customer.

Orange Card - from month 3 Your journey starts here. From your 3rd month as a Bonlife policyholder, you're an Orange Card member and automatically receive a monthly entry into the lucky draw, giving you the chance to win every single month.

  • N$1,000 Lucky Draw Entry, every month

Gold Card - from month 13 Once your policy reaches 13 months, you move up to Gold and your benefits grow with you. Alongside a bigger lucky draw entry, you start receiving airtime, a boost to your claim value, a quarterly Bonanza draw entry, and a maternity premium holiday.

  • N$2,000 Lucky Draw Entry, every month
  • N$100 Airtime
  • 5% Claim Increase
  • 1 Bonanza Entry
  • 1 Month Maternity Premium Holiday

Black Card - from month 37 At 37 months and beyond, you reach Black Card status, Bonlife's most exclusive loyalty tier: the biggest lucky draw entries, double the airtime, a 10% boost to claim value, double Bonanza entries, and an extended maternity premium holiday.

  • N$3,000 Lucky Draw Entry, every month
  • N$200 Airtime
  • 10% Claim Increase
  • 2 Bonanza Entries
  • 3 Months Maternity Premium Holiday

Benefits explained

Lucky Draw Entries Each month, your Kampala card gives you automatic entries into Bonlife's lucky draw. The higher your tier, the higher the value of your entry - and the greater your chance to win.

Airtime Gold and Black Card members receive airtime as part of their claim benefit - a valuable addition to your payout when you need it most. Airtime is paid at claim stage, not as a standalone monthly benefit.

Claim Increase Your Gold or Black Card gives you a percentage boost on your claim value, meaning your cover works even harder for you and your family when it matters most.

Bonanza Entries Gold and Black Card members receive entries into the quarterly Bonlife Bonanza draw - a N$25,000 prize draw with a two-stage format, broadcast live on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. This is an additional chance to win, on top of the regular monthly lucky draw. Orange Card members are not yet eligible for Bonanza entries.

Maternity Premium Holiday Having a baby is a joyful, and expensive, time. Gold and Black Card members can take a break from their premiums for 1 or 3 months respectively during maternity, without losing their cover.

T&Cs apply to all Kampala Loyalty Programme benefits.

The online directory at bonlifenam.com/branches/ remains the source of truth, since details change.

All branches offer the same product range; there are no branch-specific products. What differs is how customers use them. Branch customers tend to prefer face-to-face service, cash premium payments, and in-person claims support. Digital customers use WhatsApp, the website, and Bonlife 90. Both journeys lead to the same policies and the same 48-hour claim promise. Operating hours are Monday to Friday 08:00-17:00 and Saturday 08:00-13:00 (branch dependent), closed Sundays and public holidays.

7. Brand experience and culture

What every touchpoint should feel like

Whether someone walks into the Rundu branch, messages the WhatsApp bot at midnight, or gets a quote from Bonnie in 90 seconds, the experience should feel the same: warm, fast, and clear.

  • Warm: We are often meeting people on the worst day of their lives. Every interaction starts with humanity before process.
  • Fast: Answer quickly, quote quickly, pay claims quickly. Speed is respect.
  • Clear: No jargon, no fine-print surprises. If a customer is confused, we failed, not them.

Service standards for the team

  • Explain waiting periods, lapse rules, and exclusions upfront and plainly. Trust is built in the uncomfortable conversations, not avoided through them.
  • Never speculate on claim outcomes or promise anything a policy does not guarantee.
  • Escalate to a human whenever a customer is distressed, has a specific policy query, or asks something outside verified knowledge.
  • Treat the claim moment as the most important moment in the entire relationship. Everything else is preparation for it.

How Bonlife wants to be remembered

"They paid within two days, and they treated us like family." That is the sentence we are working toward in every Namibian household. Not "the funeral cover people" - the company that protects Namibian families across every stage of life, and shows up when it matters most.
